It’s so important to me to have personal projects in rotation. If I have dates open on my calendar I will fill them up with collaborations that challenge me and help me keep things fresh. I definitely find that the more I shoot personal projects, the more excited I am about everything else. On this particular shoot with my good friend and talented model/writer Amanda, we were excited to set out on a few North Shore locations with an open mind and no particular vision. We wanted to focus on creating in the moment. To add another challenging element, I limited myself to one roll of 35mm film. That’s it! I enjoy limiting the amount I shoot in my personal projects, it helps me focus on dialing in the shot prior to hitting the shutter. Inspired by the Spring blooms and sweet warm breeze, we instantly connected this portrait session with the idea of the ‘day dream.’ With Oscar Peterson playing over a portable speaker and birds chirping all around, we floated around the fresh flowers and salty beach and snapped the following photos. Thanks for taking the time to check them out!
